Asian Metal held "World Indium-Germanium Forum 2012" in Kunming, Yunnan on 11-13th April, 2012 with the attendance of about 120 representatives from home and abroad .
The forum began at 9:00 in the morning of 12th April. Firstly, the emcee, Rachael Chen delivered the opening speech for the forum. Secondly, Linus Zoller, President of Photonic Sense GmbH, discussed the current developments of infrared ray industry and thoroughly analyzed the impact of the infrared ray industry on the germanium market in the future.
Then, Wang Biao, Vice President of The Fanya Metal Exchange, introduced the background of Fanya Metal Exchange as well as the relationship between spot screen trading model and real economy in detail.
Currently, the eco-friendly solar energy industry are more and more important to each country. Therefore, the indium metal, which serves as the main raw materials of the copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) thin-film solar cells, also received universally attention. Ao Jianping, professor of Photoelectronic Thin Films Devices and Techniques Institute of Nankai University, offered an thorough analysis on industrialization and technology of CIGS film solar cell.
The prosperous flat panel market in Korea promotes the development of ITO industries. Therefore, the demand for indium metal 99.99% is increasing. Wang Yanju from Korea TSM Co., Ltd., expounded indium ingot demand in Korea market, as well as the development of ITO industry and the recycled indium. There are no minerals resources in Korea. However, the company Corea Zinc owned the manufacturing and refined facilities in 2004 and began to produce refined indium.
The meeting restarted at 14:30, and Bao Wendong, the president of Yunnan Lincang Xinyuan Germanium Industry Co., Ltd. made a profound analysis on the current trend of indium industry and appealed to work together to cope with the current dim market of germanium.
Then Kirk Johnson, an official of Marketing Department of American Indium Corporation, analyzed the new development and applications of indium metal and remarked a rapid growth of the indium demand with the unstable prices and supply of raw material. He stated that the demand could be satisfied in the long-term.
Ph.D Chen Jiabin from Chinese Academy of Land & Resources Economics showed a profound analysis on current Chinese indium resource situation and policy. He stated a series of policies approved by Chinese government since 2004 and introduced the current market status.
At last, Vermeiren Ludo, the supply manager of Umicore Co., Ltd., analyzed the demand and trend of CPV, and he believed that China could take a large share of the CPV market as an end consumer as well as the cell and module manufacturer.
All reporters fully expressed their views with great passion, which aroused active response of participants. The forum successfully closed with the support from all representatives.
